Oceanic has been grinding the local North Carolina music scene for years, but this cross-country tour has 2026 looking like it very well could be "Their Year."

Oceanic was one of the first local bands to catch my attention after I moved to North Carolina a few years ago. Nate, Sam, and Jacob all run in the same circles of musicians and artist as I do, so their shows have always felt like a music-scene family reunion.

But what really makes an Oceanic show feel that way isn’t just the familiar faces. It’s the band's genuine ability to make you feel like an insider, even if it’s your first time seeing them. Beyond the concert atmosphere, the music holds up. Oceanic’s indie-rock/pop can easily play alongside today’s top artists. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them sharing playlists with Harry Styles, Tame Impala, or Addison Rae by the end of 2026.

The band has been releasing music since 2018, with their debut album No, Human arriving in 2023. Still, the release that stands out most to me is their latest EP, Everything I Want, I Need, from late last year. These songs absolutely hit and "I'm Your Boy" is the stand-out track.

Their visual identity is just as compelling as the music and that’s where the unofficial fourth member comes in. Creative director Daniel Carrai has shaped everything from music videos and press photos to a custom-built website. For the 2026 tour, he’s elevated their visuals to a level I’ve honestly never seen from a band at this stage.

This tour is also their most ambitious yet, both in scale and reach. With stops at iconic venues like The Mercury Lounge, Schubas, and 7th St Entry, it feels like a true milestone for the band and more importantly, like the beginning of a very big 2026 for Oceanic.
